From INTERVIEWS: Madrid 2016

It was a pleasure to have Mr. Antonio Fernández Arimany, Managing Director of Madrid 2016, on the program recently.

We discussed all the work taking place in Madrid as it prepares its bid for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Madrid is competing with Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo and Chicago for the chance to hold the games.

One of the venues that really caught my eye is the Magic Box -la Caja Mágica- a tennis complex designed by Dominique Perrault that will house 16 clay tennis courts.

Three of the sixteen tennis courts will be located in a stadium where each court has its own retractable roof. With the push of button you can open one, two or all three roofs.

“Hello, we’re major label corporate rock sell-outs.” This was how front man Kurt Cobain introduced his band Nirvana in front of a crowd at the OK Hotel in Seattle, Washington. It was April 17, 1991; the first time Nirvana played what became their massive hit song, Smells Like Teen Spirit.
